Eye A Twinkle

In a way, your eyes reflect it all – your age, emotion and mind. So how do you ensure the sparkle in your eyes when simple daily activities like reading, time spent before a computer screen, exposure to too bright/dim light can take their toll? What is your care for the mirror of your soul?

Sleep And Rest
Regular sleep and rest are necessary to relieve eyestrain. Sleep has great restorative powers; it relieves fatigue and refreshes you. When the eyes are closed, they are ‘washed’ with natural moisture. This is very necessary for the health of the eyes. Anyone who spends long hours reading or working on a computer should take time off to give their eyes some rest by closing them for a few minutes.

Give It A Splash
Eye fatigue can also be relieved by washing the eyes at regular intervals. A splash of water always has an immediate feel-good effect on the eyes. In fact, contrast washing is good for your eyes. Alternate each round of eyewash with splashes of warm water and cold water. It improves blood circulation to your eyes leaving them soothed, cleansed and relieved of congestion - all at one go.

Add A Dash Of Gentleness
The skin around the eyes is thin and delicate and it needs special care. It shows neglect and premature ageing very easily. When you cleanse or wash the eyes, be very gentle; see to it that the skin does not get stretched or pulled. Apply creams lightly.

Remove All Traces Of Make-up
Removing make-up from the eyes is an absolute must. Apply a cleansing gel and wipe gently with moist cotton wool. Then apply under-eye cream or gel around the eyes. Leave on for about 15-20 minutes and wipe off gently with moist cotton wool. Never leave cream on the eyes all night; it can lead to puffiness. Remove make-up and creams before going to sleep.

Go Tea Bags, Almonds & Potatoes!
  • Collect used tea bags and use them as eye pads. Dip them in warm water and apply on closed eyes. It removes fatigue and adds brightness to your eyes.
  • Apply pure almond oil daily but sparingly. Apply it around the eyes and massage lightly using only the ring finger. Massage in one direction only. Do it for about
a minute under each eye. Leave it on for 15 minutes and wipe off gently with moist cotton wool. It helps against dark circles.
  • Mix cucumber juice and potato juice in equal quantities. Apply under eyes daily for 20 minutes. Wash off with water. It reduces puffiness and dark circles.
